English Description of Hebrew Degree Programs
Master of Public Health (MPH)
Master of Health Administration (MHA)
Established: 1961; Language of Instruction: Hebrew. The program offers a thesis and non-thesis track (since 1996). Streams: Epidemiology and Biostatistics; Health Management, Policy and Economics; Health Promotion; a specialization in Environment and Health was recently approved. A combined MD-MPH program is open to HUJI medical students with an undergraduate degree.
Target population
The MPH program is designed for public health professionals and for those who wish to prepare themselves to work in this field in the future.
Learning Goals of program:
  • Gain knowledge and expertise in public health and community medicine
  • Acquire basic measurement tools (epidemiologic, statistical, behavioral and financial) related to public health
  • Planning, management and assessment of community, regional and national health services; quality control of medical services – analyzing community health data and developing a community health program
Established: 2010; Language of Instruction: Hebrew;  joint degree program with HUJI’s School of Business Administration. The program aims to provide skills for greater understanding of the health system and its agencies and prepare students for management positions.
Target population
Physicians and BA/MA graduates in the fields of health, medicine, administration and economics.
Learning Goals of program
Attain administrative skills and a deeper understanding of health administration to prepare students for a variety of roles in government, health care facilities, the community, industry and more.
MSc in Clinical Epidemiology
Master of Veterinary Public Health (MVPH)
Established: 1999; Language of Instruction: Hebrew.
Target population
Physicians and BA/MA graduates in health and medical professions who wish to develop practical skills in planning and conducting clinical research and scientific writing.
Learning Goals of program:
Enhance knowledge, skills and research methods among health professionals interested in further training in clinical research
Established: 2014-15; Language of Instruction: Hebrew.
The first Master of Veterinary Public Health, program in Israel. This program arose out a growing need to deepen knowledge and strengthen the relationships between veterinarians, public health practitioners, the public health system and the health of the population.
This program is a joint degree program of Hebrew University's Braun School of Public Health & Community Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine, and the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine, the School of Nutritional Sciences and the Department of Agricultural Economics and Management in the Faculty of Agriculture.

Doctors of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
Learning Goals of program
Provide veterinarians with tools in healthcare economics, statistics and epidemiology combined with knowledge in food safety and diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans.
Dual degree in Medicine and Public Health(MD-MPH/MD-PhD)
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Today, physicians are expected to critically evaluate vast amounts of information, apply evidence-based scientific thinking and make decisions under conditions of uncertainty and economic constraints. These challenges require tools from the fields of epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, administration, law and other social sciences. In light of this requirement, combined study programs for a dual degree in medicine and public health have spread throughout the Western world.
Target population
Medical students with an undergraduate degree. Students in the combined MD-MPH program are required to take a year's break from their MD studies.
Learning Goals of program:
Within this flexible dual-degree program, students will acquire knowledge and skills in research methods and key public health topics.
Established: c. 1980; Language of Instruction: Hebrew and English.
Target population
Israeli and international students with a research-oriented Master’s Degree (or equivalent) interested in becoming independent Public Health investigators. A combined MD-PhD program for HU medical students was established in 2016. *A limited number of outstanding IMPH graduates may return to undertake PhD research via dedicated funding mechanisms.
