Muscle degeneration diseases include some of the most severe diseases of infants and adults and the majority of them lack any possible treatment today. Thus, finding new treatments and cures is a major goal of the medical and scientific community. One of the main obstacles for developing new treatments is the lack of communication and collaboration between different researchers and clinicians in the field that will work together to better understand these diseases in order to find a solutions how to treat them. The new muscle degeneration diseases research hub of the Institute for Medical Research Israel-Canada (IMRIC) that we established, will touch upon these obstacles. The hub will enable researchers and clinicians from different fields and disciplines which study aspects of muscle degeneration diseases to get together in mutual scientific meetings and seminars, leading in the future also to collaborative research projects that will emanate from the hub. The IMRIC research hub will gather researchers and clinicians that study and treat different aspects and different diseases such as ALS, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Myotonic Dystrophy and others, leading to muscle degeneration. We believe that this new research hub will also serve as a new platform for fundraising to support novel research projects of researchers in the hub. We believe that establishing a research hub for muscle degenerative diseases will form a unique frame which doesn't exist today. The interactions, new ideas and research directions brought by its diverse members will generate fruitful discussions and collaborations within the hub which is extremely important for the researchers in the field.
