In recent years, the interest in occupational therapy studies has increased dramatically in Israel. Every year, less than 5% of the applicants to entry-level occupational therapy studies are accepted, ensuring that we educate some of the country's finest professionals. At the School of Occupational Therapy of Hadassah and the Hebrew University, we are proud of the standard of all the academic programs offered. We train occupational scientists and occupational therapists who are able to integrate clinical reasoning with scientific research and a humanistic approach. Our graduates are professionals who excel both in their relationships with their clients and in their ability to base their intervention on the most current research evidence.
The scope of knowledge required in the field of occupational therapy is growing at a rapid pace. At the Jerusalem School of Occupational Therapy, clinical knowledge and skills are conveyed to students through modern and up to date techniques, including, among others, direct instruction, individual and group experiential learning and laboratory practice. The methods of teaching vary in accordance with the subject matter and course goals. Some courses aim to pass on knowledge while others endeavor to develop "therapeutic use of self" through experience and group discussions. For this reason, some courses are taught in larger groups and others in small ones.
The School of Occupational Therapy offers studies towards three academic degrees:
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT)
- Masters in Occupational Therapy as part of the Medical Sciences Branch (MSc)
- Doctor of Philosophy in Occupational Therapy (PhD).
All programs offered by the School of Occupational Therapy of Hadassah and the Hebrew University are recognized by the World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT).
