Our lab is interested in medical and veterinary entomology and as such we are working with insects such as human lice (head, body and pubic lice), bed bugs, midges, and fleas and flea-borne diseases; mites such as house dust mites and allergies, scabies, and follicle mites (Demodex); and ticks and tick-borne diseases.
From clinical point of view we are treating patients with chronic wounds using disinfected fly larvae (maggot debridement therapy), and medicinal leeches to salvage compromised microvascular free-tissue transfers, replanted digits, ears, lips and nasal tips due to venous congestion.
From educational point of view we are teaching entomology to physicians, pharmacists, veterinarians, biologists and nurses.
