The most esteemed honor bestowed by the Israel Endocrine Society is named the "Hans Yohanan Lindner Award" It is conferred upon researchers under the age of 50 in recognition of their scientific accomplishments in the field of endocrinology over the past five years.

Professor Hans Yohanan Lindner, born in Germany in 1922 and immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1936, was a distinguished biologist and endocrinology researcher. After pursuing veterinary medicine studies in Australia, he attained his PhD from the University of Cambridge in England. In 1964, he joined the Weizmann Institute as a visiting researcher in the Department of Biodynamics, becoming its head a year later. Lindner founded a multidisciplinary department at the Weizmann Institute dedicated to hormone research, which he renamed the "Hormone Research Department." Additionally, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Biology, contributed to the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and held presidency in the Israeli Society of Endocrinology. Lindner was honored with the Israel Prize in Life Sciences in 1979 and was elected as a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences. In 1982, he was posthumously awarded the Rothschild Prize in Biology and the Munthe-Axel Prize in fertility biology. Professor Hans Yohanan Lindner passed away in 1982 after battling a severe illness.
