Cog-Fun is a cognitive functional intervention for children, adolescents and adults with ADHD. It addresses the cognitive, emotional and environmental barriers that impede daily functioning.

About Cog-Fun

Cog-Fun is a unique treatment approach that is occupation- based client and family centered and theoretically driven. Cog-Fun was designed to address the functional and cognitive challenges of children with ADHD and their families, with a specific focus on executive functioning. This approach was developed with the understanding that the difficulties children with ADHD and their families face are multifaceted, involving bio-psycho-social factors that affect daily functioning in various occupational areas. Due to the complexity of this diagnosis and its extensive implications on functioning and participation Cog-Fun treatment addresses the variety of biological, psychological and social factors associated with ADHD. This approach is in line with the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health that presents a comprehensive view of the consequences of various health conditions and views participation and quality of life as significant outcome measures for health promotion and wellbeing.
The change mechanisms for improving functioning and quality of life include the therapeutic relationship with the children and their parents, meta-cognitive learning, behavioral learning and environmental adaptation.
Extensive research examining the efficiency of Cog-Fun among 5-10 year old children has taken place recently and yielded positive results, demonstrating improved executive functioning and occupational performance, as well as improved parental self- efficacy and quality of life. Research on Cog-Fun intervention for teens is being held presently in the neurocognitive rehabilitation lab at the school of occupational therapy in Jerusalem, Israel.
