EYEMUSIC

ARTIFICIAL VISION FOR THE BLIND

System involving a tiny video camera worn by a blind person to capture the surrounding visual field and convert it into a soundscape (or tactile matrix) using a set of novel algorithms. After training, blind individuals have been able to recognize the letters of the alphabet, "see" pictures of animals, and even find an object—such as a pair of shoes or a person—in a complex visual landscape

VIRTUAL CANE

ENHANCED GUIDING DEVICE FOR THE BLIND

The virtual cane (AKA EyeCane) uses an algorithm to translate distance into sound vibrations. The EyeCane aims to boost mobility and navigation for the visually-disabled, augmenting the traditional White-Cane with increased range (up to 5 meters), angles and unobtrusiveness. Within 5 minutes of training, users can successfully navigate, detect and avoid obstacles and estimate distance. Recently-published EyeCane research demonstrated that using the EyeCane distinctly improves users' mobility patterns

THE MULTISENSORY BIONIC EYE

COMBINING PROSTHETIC VISUAL IMPLANTS WITH OUR SSD

The multisensory bionic eye is a sophisticated combination of a camera, a retinal stimulator, glasses with auditory and tactile actuators and a combined processor. The patent is base upon a basic law of biology which states that the combination of several different sensory input channels is greater than the sum of it's parts, especially in conditions of degraded sensory input. Blind users will receive input from all of these channels boosting their visual experience - with higher resolution coming via audition and tactile input and the feeling of seeing from the chip in their eyes. This project is ERC funded starting 2014

Our StratUp

RenewSenses, founded in 2016, enables people with visual impairment to know which objects are around them; where they are located; and also have a new form of perceptual experience of their visual elements, through a new sensory language composed of musical notes and speech.
