Why I became a Researcher:

In high school I always liked my science classes and did well in them. I took chemistry, biology, and physics but I really liked chemistry the most because we had a wonderful teacher and we practiced it in the school laboratory. So I decided to study chemistry at the Hebrew University as a first degree. At the end of my studies, I decided to combine my passion for biology with chemistry and continued my academic career in the field of biochemistry. My research was focused on signal transduction through G-proteins. I continued my research in this area during my post-doctorate in the USA. Upon returning to Israel, I became fascinated with microbial toxins' mechanisms of action. In 1984 I shifted my focus to study how bacteria causes diseases in humans.
