Bachelor degree in Biomedical Sciences – BSc Med

Program Highlights

The program aims to provide students with knowledge of human biology in its various forms and of its expression in the proper and abnormal functioning of the human body. The degree prepares students for further academic studies and research for master's and doctoral degrees in all branches of life sciences and medicine at higher education institutions in Israel and worldwide. Graduates also obtain training suitable for professions requiring broad knowledge of human biology, such as positions in research laboratories and diagnostic laboratories in hospitals, health funds, Ministry of Health, pharmaceutical industry, and biotechnology industries. The program also provides training for administrative work in institutions and organizations that require premedical background and knowledge.
The program is taught in the Hebrew language.

Details of Academic Program

The duration of the program for a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences (B.Sc. Med) is three years
At present 145 credits are required to complete the full program.
The first-year curriculum includes courses in the fields of: statistics, natural sciences (chemistry, physics, physical chemistry), and basic courses in the structure of the human body (anatomy), human biology, biochemistry, experience with selected research methods in the genetics and biochemistry of proteins.
From the 2nd year and running through until the end of the 3rd year of studies, students choose to be affiliated to 1 out of 4 modules and expand their knowledge in this module
The second-year curriculum mandatory to all students includes courses in the fields of: neurobiology, cellular physiology, molecular biology, metabolic and physiological biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, histology, practical experience in molecular biology, python. In addition, each student studies mandatory courses from their chosen module.
The third-year curriculum mandatory to all students includes courses in the fields of: pharmacology, embryology, human genetics, bioinformatics and in addition further module courses, including a lab experience course.
The program offers also elective hands-on lab courses for 2nd and 3rd year students
