About Philip Lazarovici
Prof Philip Lazarovici, PhD, a Professor of Pharmacology, holds Jacob Gitlin Chair in Physiology, is a member of the Institute for Drug Research of the School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. An acclaimed neuropharmacologist, Professor Lazarovici graduated in pharmacology and toxicology at the Hebrew University, post graduated on neurobiology at the Weizmann Institute of Science and conducted neurochemical and molecular research at the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development, NIH as a visiting scientist, which all set the stage for his lifelong career on neuropharmacology. His groundbreaking work provided Israeli scientific community with pharmacological knowledge towards development of different drugs and elucidation of their mechanism of action. Prof. Lazarovici is a member of 15 international and national academic societies, published more than 250 scientific articles and reviews and edited six books in his field of research. Prof. Lazarovici's basic and translational research has been supported by grants from national (ISF, Ministry of Science, Ministry of Industry) and binational (BSF, GIF) and private foundations. His research interests lie in the fields of neuropharmacology, neurotoxicology, neurooncology and neural engineering focusing on toxins and neurotrophins. He is most proud of his graduate students which are active in the Israeli community pharmaceutical practice, academia, hospitals and institutions of teaching and research.
